Five years ago, I was introduced to Kiwanis by one of our own members, and it gave me a whole new prospective on life. Having been raised in a Federal Housing Project along with 7 other siblings, I already had an idea of what being misfortunate, or poor as we came to know our situation then, looked like.
Kiwanis has afforded me the opportunity to give back to the community by serving many capacities as a member. From the Key Club, to Terrific Kids, to the Street Cleanup, to the Dictionary Project, I am proud of what our Club does and will continue to do in the 2011-2012 year.
Our focus this year, under my Presidency, will be membership and service. I will be asking each member to be responsible for introducing at least one new member to the club. These are tough economic times and in order to build our club we must build membership. Together we can build a more active, larger, and dedicated member base which will allow us to help care for the children of our community and around the world.
I look forward to working with each and every one of our members, as well as welcoming new members, and I wish each of you the happiest and most successful business year yet.
